I had the distinct honor of running with PFC. Justin Casillas's name on my running bib this past Saturday. The run was the Christopher Scherer Memorial "I Did the Grid" and run by Chris's parents to honor him and all those lost heroes. Please know PFC. Casillas was in my thoughts as I ran and will never be forgotten-a grateful American/Jennyrose Corritore, Long Island NY.

It has truly been my honor to sign Justin's guest book these past few years. Unfortunately, due to complications from my Multiple Sclerosis, this may be the last message I'm able to write. Please forgive me and know that Justin will always be remembered in my home.

”Honor and Remember” - “Project Compassion” We love our Soldiers! We love our country and we cannot express enough love and compassion to the families of our fallen heroes. War does not discriminate – It breaks our hearts to see the faces of the fallen. We want to give this gift to the hero’s Mother, Father and/or spouse. We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization! Almost 2,150 portraits have been completed and shipped to the parents and or spouse - at no cost as this is a gift from one American to another!
This is a gift! We have wonderful sponsors who help with the costs, and want you know that everyone here at Project Compassion does and will always CARE.
Contact us directly at [email protected] or go to www.heropaintings.com. We welcome your phone calls at 435-835-9429 – Either Kaziah or Kenna will answer – or if no one answers, please leave a message – we will return your call.
If you have already had a portrait completed, we pray that you are enjoying the portrait and God Bless You.
Sincerely and Respectfully,
Kenna

Re: PFC Justin Casillas

Hello,
I represent PRAYER SHAWLS 4 FALLEN SOLDIERS (PS4FS), an organization that since October 2007 has sent over 3,370 prayer shawls to military families who have lost a loved one. We are an organization of over 247 groups from all over the country. We make every effort to reach families even when post cards are returned after they have moved. Would you kindly send me a contact email/address so that we may send a loving hand-made prayer shawl to the family? Thank you!

I didn't know Justin. I did go to school at Pierce High 03. My little sister Patricia Mencia is a soldier in the US Army. She is on her way home from Iraq as we speak. I just want to let everyone know how proud I am of Justin, Patty and all of the other soldiers out there. Everyday she was there I was scared. Not knowing what is going to happen to her or if I would ever hear from her again. The worst time for me was Mother's Day weekend. There was an incident that happend at Camp Liberty where she was stationed. We heard from her then we didn't for a few days. I know that is procedure but at the same time your heart drops and thoughts run through your head. My mom called me at work the minute she heard from my sister. I was relieved. Some families don't get that ok phone call. It is the hardest thing to have to wait without knowing if you're soldier is coming home. SO TO ALL THE SOLDIERS THANK YOU. THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING THAT YOU ARE DOING. SERVING YOUR COUNTRY, PROTECTING US.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

As a family member of a fellow soldier at Zerok, my thoughts and prayers are with the Casillas Family. Be comforted in knowing that Justin served honorably and always gave back more than he received. Scripture says that there is no greater form of love than to give one's life for a friend. When that "friend" is someone we have yet to meet or even know his name, the depth of the love shown is even more remarkable. We are taught that God's love is infinite. Justin's sacrifice helps us to better comprehend what that really means. Thank you Justin!

I do know the family and know Justin. I watched him grow over the past years, and he was an outstanding and strong man for his young 19 years of life. But he did what he wanted to do and always has. I know his parents (Joe and Donna) are completely devastated as any parent would be, but I also know they are proud of Justin. I am proud and Lucky to know Justin, his Parents. Nothing will ever make the hurt and sorrow go away, but at least knowing Justin or knowing anyone that have been in the armed forces, that have given their lives, and ones that have made it back, in the past, right now and in the future, makes me proud. God Bless Justin, his Parents, our Armed Forces, to all the wonderful People that have kind words here, and God Bless the United States of America.

To the Casillas Family,

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. Justin shall never be forgotten.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

Every second you sacrificed
I hold you in my prayers.
So with one hand on my heart and the other in the air;

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms PFC Justin Casillas. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Justin. And to Justin it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Justin, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,353 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Justin’s family and loved ones.

My Deepest and Most Heartfelt Sympathy goes out to the family of Pfc. Justin Casillas, with Profound Gratitude for your Brave Young Soldier's Courage, Dedication and Service to our Country and for Freedom.

The price Justin and his family have paid, Will Never Be Forgotten. May he Rest Safely, in God's Care and may the Peace of God be with the Casillas family.
I am the Sister of such a 19 year young hero, who made the Ultimate Sacrifice in Vietnam, many years ago

"Surely He hath borne our grief,
and carried our sorrows."
~ Isaiah 53:4 ~

May you find comfort and strength, in the beautiful memories of times spent with Justin and quietly and gently, may healing come, with each new day.
You are in my thoughts and my prayers.
