William P. Kolbe

William P. Kolbe, 87, of Mentor, passed away October 23, 2015 at Ennis Court Skilled Nursing in Lakewood. Born April 10, 1928 in Bradford, PA, he had lived in Mentor for 53 years.

Mr. Kolbe graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with his bachelor's degree in Pharmacy and was a registered Pharmacist and manger for 42 years with the Gray Drug/Rite Aid chain. He was a pharmacist/manager at the Great Lakes Mall Mentor drug store for 30 of those years. Bill was a 32nd degree member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry, a member of Temple Lodge 28 F@AM, a member of The Royal Arch and Trinity Commandary #50 both in Bradford, Pa and the Valley of Coudersport Consistory in Coudersport, PA and a Shriner with the Caliph Grotto. He was a special deputy with the Lake County Sherriff's Department for many years. He was an avid hunter and boater who loved playing poker with his long-time friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Ennis Court, Lakewood who so lovingly cared for William in his last months.

He was the beloved father of Mary Kolbe, Kathleen Kolbe, Cynthia Kiggans, William (Stephanie) Kolbe and Rebekah (Harvey) Hodous; step-children Thomas R. Tasker, Mark William (Anna) Tasker, and Craig F. (Valerie) Tasker. He is also survived by his 9 loving grandchildren and 5 loving great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his 1st wife Dorthea Jayne (nee Potts) Kolbe; 2nd wife June Batsel (nee Douglas) Kolbe; parents William Paul and Alice Kolbe and his brother John Lyon Kolbe.

Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Hope Ridge United Methodist Church 9870 Johnnycake Ridge Rd., Concord Twp.

The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Brunner Sanden Deitrick Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 8466 Mentor Ave., Mentor.

Interment will be at Mentor Cemetery.
