Funeral services celebrating the life of Gurvis Joseph Bergeron will be held Thursday, November 19, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Ibert's Mortuary in Patterson. He will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery. Msgr. J. Douglas Courville, JCL will conduct the services. A gathering of family and friends will be held Thursday at Ibert's from 9:00 AM until time of service. Serving as active and honorary pallbearers will be Kirk Bergeron Sr., Dalton Callender, Austin Rivera, Roger Adams Sr., Roger Adams Jr., Rodney Adams, Russell Bergeron Jr., Jared Bergeron, and James L. Bergeron. Gurvis was born on January 31, 1938 in Arnaudville, LA, one of nine children born to the late Aurelie Bergeron and the late Mable Bertinot Bergeron. He passed away at the age of 77 on Sunday, November 15, 2015, at his home surrounded by family. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather who never meet a stranger and was a friend to all. He was an honest and hardworking man who had a big heart. Some of his favorite pastimes were the outdoors, RVing, listening to classic country music, and watching old westerns. His passion in life, however, was his family, who he deeply loved. He will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Patricia Haskins Bergeron; two children, Kirk Bergeron Sr. and his wife Christina Moore Bergeron, and Christine Lynn Bergeron; ten grandchildren, Kirk Bergeron Jr., Ciara Bergeron Hughes and family, Bradley Bergeron and family, Dwayne Bergeron, Ashlynn Bergeron, Austin Rivera, Dalton, Christian, Adaiha, and Breanna Callender; six siblings, Lucille Stelly, Mergie Miller, Authurine Adams and her husband Roger Sr., Peggy Besse and her husband Ferdnand, James L. Bergeron and his wife Jeanette, and Brenda Bergeron; one sister-in-law, Sandra B. Bergeron; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Cheryl Ann Bergeron Weiss; one grandson, Korey Bergeron; his parents, Aurelie Bergeron and Mable Bertinot Bergeron; two siblings, Iris Stelly and Russell Bergeron; his parents-in-law, James R. Haskins and Jeanne Picard Haskins; three brothers-in-law, Nolvey Stelly Sr., Naquin Stelly, and Wilson Miller.
