Michael E. Boran, Jr., 68 of Cortland, died Monday afternoon, December 14, 2015, at the Cleveland Clinic of a sudden illness. He was born July 1, 1947 in Warren, the son of the late Michael Eric and Philomena Dorothy Skrownski Boran. He was a Trumbull county resident most of his life. Michael was a 1965 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and attended Youngstown College. He served in the Air Force as a staff sergeant during the Vietnam War. He retired Dec. 3rd of this year from Ellwood Engineered Castings in Hubbard, where he worked in various departments for 23 years. Michael was of the Catholic faith. He bowled on the Golden Stallion restaurant bowling team and enjoyed golf, crossword puzzles and history. He loved movies, especially crime mysteries and science fiction. Michael was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and Indians, YSU and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was always a lighthearted jokester. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gail L. Hostetler Boran, whom he married September 6, 1980; two daughters, Erin L. Boran of Youngstown and Kristin L. Boran of Cortland; two sons, Eric M. and Phillip Boran both of Cortland; one granddaughter, Chasitty; two sisters, Martha Ann Karchut of Cortland and Barbara Obradovich of Warren and two brothers, Philip "Flip" (Jody) Obradovich of Howland and Steve Obradovich Jr. of Warren. Besides by his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his stepdad, Steve Obradovich. A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland, where the family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the noon service on Saturday.
