Eleni Ellenikiotis

Eleni Ellenikiotis, a proud wife, mother, grandmother (Yiayia), and great grandmother, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016 at 80 years of age. She leaves behind her loving husband, Yianni Ellenikiotis, her daughter, Pauline Alevizos, her son-in-law Tim Alevizos, her two sons Anthony Ellenikiotis and Jim Ellenikiotis, her seven grandchildren, Kate Alevizos-Ramacciotti, Eleni Alevizos, Eleni Ellenikiotis, Soula Ellenikiotis, Yianni Ellenikiotis, George Ellenikiotis, and great-grandaughter, Athena Ramacciotti. Eleni adored the mother of her four grandchildren Georgia Ellenikiotis. She cherished Jim's significant other, Bridget Peterson, and her grand-daughter's husbands, John Ramacciotti, Scott Robson, and David Soleimani-Meigooni. Eleni is survived by her loving sister, Katina Kalemis, and her nephew and niece, George and Anna Kalemis. Eleni married her husband Yianni sixty-one years ago in Istiaia, on the island of Evia in Greece. After serving in the Korean War, Yianni went to Greece to marry Eleni. She joined her husband in the United States to begin their new life together. Eleni was proud to be living in America, where her dream of a free and happy life became a reality. Eleni and Yianni began their family of three loving children in San Francisco. The strong Greek community allowed them to raise their family prosperously and live the American Dream. Together, Eleni and Yianni worked very hard to provide their family with the best life possible. Family meant everything to Eleni. The love she gave to each of her children and grandchildren was unconditional and endless. Eleni was so proud of her family and their accomplishments. Her grandchildren considered her a second Mom. She was a constant presence in her children's and grandchildren's lives. Her love, generosity, strength, and nurturing spirit were immeasurable. Eleni carried her Greek Orthodox faith deep in her soul. She lived her life as a strong Christian woman. From San Francisco to Daly City, to their current home for the past 40 years in San Mateo, they were blessed with the constant support and affection of lifelong friends and family. Eleni was known for her impeccable style and exceptional beauty. She also had many wonderful talents and hobbies. Eleni was an extraordinary cook who was known for her incredible Greek cuisine. For many years, she enjoyed cross-country running and going to the gym. She loved to travel and be fashionable. Eleni traveled back to Evia, Greece every summer to visit her family and run the family-owned hotel. With her sudden passing she can rest knowing that the love she shared would live on in the hearts of her beloved family forever. She will be extremely missed by many. May God grant her rest in His Kingdom and may her memory be eternal. Funeral Services: Trisaigon will be held at 7:00pm on January 21st at the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 900 Alameda de las Pulgas, Belmont followed by the Funeral on Friday, January 22nd at 10:30am. Interment: Greek Orthodox Memorial Park, Colma CA. Donations can be made out to Church of the Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church.
