He was born in Coaticook, Quebec on November 5, 1935 to Eusebe and Felicite (Bilodeau) Chouinard. He lived in Manchester for many years.
Mr. Chouinard worked at Chicopee Mills, Pandora Mills and Mt. Carmel Nursing Home all in Manchester for many years. While in Canada, he was a member of Les Zouave.
He enjoyed hockey and was a fan of the New York Rangers. He also enjoyed country music, playing cards, reading, puzzles, horseshoes, fishing and all family sporting events.
The family includes his wife of 54 years, Jeanne (Ouimette) Chouinard of Manchester; five children, Alain Chouinard and his wife, Marie, of Pembroke, Diane P. Gomes and her husband, Ronald, of Manchester, Johanne S. Van Rossum and her husband, Craig, of Auburn, Daniel A. Chouinard and his wife, Pauline, of Fitchburg, MA, and Guy M. Chouinard of Methuen, MA; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Sonya, Renee, Chantel, Desirae, Samantha, Dominique, Micaela, Kerry and Stephan; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Andre Chouinard and his wife, Monique, and Marcel Chouinard and his wife, Ethel, all of Sherbrooke, Quebec; a sister, Yvette Chouinard of Sherbrooke, Quebec; three brothers in law, Wilfrid Ouimette of Manchester, Origene Cournoyer and his wife, Therese of Connecticut and Gilles Ouimette and his wife, Nicole, of Canada; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, September 26, 2011 at Ste. Marie Church, 378 Notre Dame Ave., Manchester. Committal prayers followed at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, 474 Goffstown Rd., Manchester.
