Wilfred C. "Blinky" Blanchette, 86, of Manchester, died peacefully surrounded by his family, April 15, 2004, at Catholic Medical Center.
Born in Manchester, January 22, 1918, he was the son of William and Albina (Houle) Blanchette. He was a lifelong resident of this city.
He was an army veteran of World War II having served at New Caledonia. He later served in the NH National Guard for several years.
He co owned Lessard Furniture Co. for several years and later worked as a sales clerk for J.J. Moreau Hardware Store.
He was a communicant of St. Catherine Church.
Family members include his wife of 58 years, Helen (Charpentier) Blanchette, of Manchester; five sons, William C. Blanchette of Manchester, Daniel P. Blanchette of Concord, Richard A. Blanchette of Manchester, Charles D. Blanchette of Allenstown, and Timothy J. Blanchette of Concord; seven grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; two brothers, Leo Blanchette, and Arthur Lessard, both of Manchester; nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday April 19, 2004 at St. Catherine Church. Burial followed in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
