Dear Constantini and Recchia Families -- my deepest heartfelt sympathy and prayers to you. May you all be granted strength, hope, and faith to carry on. Beloved Maria was a teaching colleague in the early years of our careers -- and even well beyond our changing paths, we would see each other at education conferences and meetings and we'd "pick up where we left off." Dear Maria has always held a special place in my heart. Her grace, elegance, intelligence, wisdom, and ethos were unmatched... a consummate professional and human being. I can still hear Maria's distinctive, commanding, and yet genteel voice. I can still see and feel the deep warmth of her "sparkling smiling eyes." May Maria's Memory Be Eternal. Rest in Peace dear unforgettable beloved friend and "soul sister." Addendum: A year ago I recognized the family name on Fabrizio's baseball team jersey during a game, when his team was playing my son Costa's team in Detroit. I spoke with Beloved Maria after that -- and I embraced Maria's faith and hopefulness as she spoke about her illness and her journey to seek healing.
