Albert Injijian Obituary

Published by Wiefels Palm Springs Mortuary on Mar. 8, 2016.
Dr. Albert P. Injijian passed away at his home in Palm Springs after a lengthy illness. Dr. Injijian was born in Cairo, Egypt, on September 12, 1931 to Hagop and Maireni Injijian (née Farsakian). In 1956 he graduated from Yerevan State Medical University in Yerevan, Armenia, specializing in cardio-thoracic surgery. In 1959 he married Leah Fedyanin in Rostov-Don, Russia, and last year celebrated 56 years of their marriage. After immigrating to the United States in 1973, Dr. Injijian was a cardiac surgeon on staff at St. Vincent Medical Center and Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, and Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank. He practiced medicine for 50 years, before retiring to Palm Springs, California, where he loved the desert climate. During his retirement Dr. Injijian enjoyed the bucolic beauty of the Coachella Valley, and always looked forward to visits from his grand-daughters, whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his wife, Leah Injijian; daughter, Angela McGahan, son-in-law Robert McGahan, and grand-daughters, Claire and Abigail McGahan, all of Charlotte, North Carolina; brother, Vram Injijian and sister, Azadouhi Karayan of Los Angeles, California; sister, Haygouhi Soghomonian of Sydney, Australia. Services will be on Friday, March 18, at 11:00 am at St. Garabed Armenian Apostolic Church in Rancho Mirage, with a graveside service at Desert Memorial Park. A reception to celebrate his life will be at Flemings in Rancho Mirage immediately following. Entrusted to the care of Wiefels Funeral Directors, Palm Springs.
