Irene May Reynolds was born in Somerville, MA. Her biological mother was Clarissa Torode, a 16 year old daughter of Thomas and Eva Mae Torode, who she thought were her parents until Eva Mae died when Irene was 7 years old. She then went to live with her “older brother� Thomas and his wife, Viola. They adopted her the following year. She attended school in Somerville, MA, graduating from high school in 1949. Soon after she went to work at Tufts College. She was Secretary to the Dean of Special Studies and, later to the Captain of the NROTC at Tufts. During this time she met Jim Reynolds who graduated from Tufts in 1953. They were married on 10 April 1954 in Goddard Chapel on the Tufts campus. She and Jim had two children. Wayne and his family live in Orlando FL. Suzanne and her family near Concord, NH. Wayne and his wife, Linda have a daughter, Jennifer, who is planning to marry in September. Suzanne and her husband, David Paul, have twins, James and Lila, who were 11 years old on February 2nd. During her life, she worked in retail accounting and ran a small shop, Irene’s Ceramics, in New Hampshire where she taught ceramics painting until 1987, when Jim’s job transferred them to Orlando, FL. They lived in Orlando until 1995 when they moved to Leesburg. They are “snowbirds� and still maintain a Summer home in Tamworth, NH. Irene’s grandparents were in the Salvation Army. After her adoptive parents took over she attended the Congregational Church and did so also after marriage in Woburn, MA, Auburn, ME and Chelmsford, MA. She and Jim lived the longest in Chelmsford MA, from 1960 to1987 where the two children went to school. Irene taught Sunday School and Jim sang in the choir at the Chelmsford Congregational Church. Irene is survived by: James P. Reynolds, her husband of 57 years, Wayne A. Reynolds, her son, and his wife, Linda Reynolds, Suzanne Paul, her daughter, and her husband, David Paul, Jennifer Reynolds, James Paul and Lila Paul, her grandchildren, Judy Button, her sister, Timothy Torode and Thomas Torode, her brothers, Kathleen Malloy, Patricia Dovidio and Loraine DeVellis, her half sisters, Lawrence O’Reilly, her half brother, And many nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members and friends, all of whom loved her and will miss her very much. A Memorial Service in her honor is being planned for 11:00am on the19th of February at the Plantation Memorial Park in Leesburg, FL.
