Alexander Samuel Hahn, 20, of Columbia, died March 3, 2011. He was born June 1, 1990, in Allentown, PA, the son of Mark and Cindy (Farrell) Hahn. He grew up in Latrobe, PA, and moved to this area in 2005 where he attended and graduated from Ridge View High School in 2009. After attending both Coastal Carolina University and Midlands Technical College, he has been working in the hospitality industry working at a number of local restaurants in various positions. He served on the Cadet Staff at the Hawk Mountain Ranger School; the longest running Search and Rescue school in the U.S. Alex held several staff positions where he was recognized as a leader among his peers and the senior staff of the school for his professionalism, leadership and management skills. One of his greatest joys was spending time at his second home at Cape May, NJ. Alex not only loved the beach, but enjoyed outdoor activities such as rock climbing, ocean kayaking and skiing. Everyone who knew Alex would describe him as an enthusiastic, charismatic individual. Always up for a challenge, Alex was happiest when he was outdoors. Alex is survived by his parents Mark and Cindy of Columbia, SC, and his sister, Carly of Philadelphia, PA. He also leaves his paternal grandmother, Barbara (Clarence) Hahn of Emmaus, PA and maternal grandmother, Evelyn Farrell (Richard) of Laughlintown, PA.
