Waltham – Mrs. Vivian M. (Brown) Travis, of Waltham, died Tuesday, April 3, 2012, in the Wingate Nursing Center in Needham. She was 94. Vivian was born in Waltham on March 8, 1918, a daughter of the late William and Sarah (Wells) Brown, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Waltham and had worked for many years at the Waltham Watch Factory. After that she managed the Goodwill Thrift Store in Waltham. An avid bicycle rider, Vivian enjoyed watching professional golf and working crossword puzzles. She and her late husband, Paul, had been married forty- nine years. Vivian leaves her sons, Paul H. Travis of Georgia and Gary E. Travis and his wife, Beth, of Mashpee; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Craig A. Travis and a sister of the late William Brown, Harold Brown, Ethel Chatterton, Doris Mullaney, Louise Carnes, Inez Bourgeois, Ruth Urqhart, and Mildred Barnes. Family and friends will honor and remember Vivian's by gathering to visit at 8:30 a.m. on Friday morning, April 6th, in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Christ Episcopal Church, 750 Main Street, Waltham where her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
