Dr. Edward A. Karns Age 78, of Mokena, formerly of Homer Glen, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Beloved Husband of Judith A. (nee Radeloff); Loving Father of Edward A. "Ted" (Julie) Karns, Jr. and Andrew D. (Renee) Karns; Dear Grandpa and Papa of Andrew, Emily and Krystal Karns; numerous other family and friends also survive. Edward was born in Conneaut, OH to the late Edward K. and Maude L. (nee Brown) Karns. He graduated from Cleveland Heights High School, Cleveland Heights, OH and received his Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Degrees from Kent State University, Kent, OH. He was former Superintendent of the Parma City Schools, Parma, OH and Homer Consolidated School District 33C, Homer Glen, IL. He was also Past President of Lockport Rotary Club, Lockport, IL, Councilman Emeritus of the Gaylord Building, Lockport, IL and a member of numerous other organizations and committees. Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made In Memory of Dr. Edward A. Karns to: The Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Care Center of Northwestern University, Calumet Council Boy Scouts of America, The National Trust for Historic Preservation/Gaylord Building, American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association. Family will receive friends at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Road, New Lenox, IL, on Saturday, October 20, 2012 from 12 Noon until time of Funeral Service at 6:00PM. Interment will be on Monday, October 22, 2012 at 11:00AM at St. John's Cemetery, Mokena, IL.
