Esther V. Ewald, age 95, of 4804 Cty Trk VV, Two Rivers, died Saturday morning, November 10, 2012 at her residence with her family at her side. The former Esther Rettele was born on July 11, 1917 at Cleveland, daughter of the late Henry and Clara (Liske) Rettele. She attended local schools and graduated from Manitowoc's Lincoln High School. On August 28, 1937 she was married to William Klemme at St. Wendel Catholic Church in Cleveland. On December 31, 1964 Esther was married to LeRoy J. Ewald at Grafton. LeRoy preceded her in death on January 13, 2005. In the past Esther worked in Manitowoc, Grafton and Oshkosh as a bank teller. Esther and LeRoy spent their retirement years in Arizona and moved back to Manitowoc in 2002. Esther enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, crosswords and playing cards. She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Manitowoc. Survivors include her five children: William (Janet) Klemme, Alton, NH; Gail Kolar, Manitowoc; James (Eileen) Klemme, Phoenix, AZ; David (Fran) Klemme, Sheboygan; Phillip (Julia) Klemme, Two Rivers; 18 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one sister: Hazel Wagner, Cleveland; one brother-in-law: Adrian Wagner, Cleveland; one sister-in-law: Marilyn Lohman, Lake Mills; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Clara Rettele; three sisters and brothers-in-law: Alice (Sylvester) Koenig; Margaret (Victor) Koenig; June Wagner; Hilmer Wagner. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St. Manitowoc. The Rev. Roald Harswick will officiate with cremation to follow and burial of her cremated remains to take place at a later date at the Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service at 3:00 p.m. Online condolences may be expressed at www.jensreinboldandpfeffer.com. In lieu of flowers memorial donations would appreciated for Holy Family Memorial Hospice and Homecare. Esther's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Holy Family Hospice and Homecare for the wonderful care Mom received in her final days. Your thoughtfulness will never be forgotten.
