Samuel Jacob Leighton

Samuel J. Leighton, 71, of Columbia, MO passed away January 5, 2013. He was born in Boonville, MO on March 31, 1941, the son of the late Casper S., and Henriette E. (Hefty) Leighton. Samuel retired from NCR Corporation, and enjoyed softball and fishing, and loved his friends and family. On February 1, 1964, he married Rose Fennewald in Mexico, MO and she survives. Samuel is also survived by three children: Jennifer Wade (Greg) of Columbia, MO, Lance Leighton (Caprice) of Centralia, MO, and Jeffery Leighton (Windy) of New Franklin, MO; eleven grandchildren: Tristan and Josh Wade of Columbia, MO, Sloane Forrest, Jacob and Ethan Leighton, Lexie Forrest and Garrason Leighton all of Centralia, MO, Brittney, Jaque, Jordan, and Kimmie Leighton, all of New Franklin, MO, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Mary Leighton. There will be a visitation from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, January 10, 2013. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, January 11, 2013 at the funeral home. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 12, 2013.
