JaVan Boyd Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 29, 2013.
Boyd JaVan "Ja" L. Boyd, of Mount Joy, entered into his eternal rest April 29, 2013. He was the loving husband of Diane Levering Boyd with whom he celebrated 36 years of marriage this past September 18th. Born in Mechanicsburg, he was the son of the late Myles B. Boyd and Dorothy Mae Boyd Enck. A graduate of Elizabethtown High School, Ja had worked for NCR of Mount Joy and Humboldt, TN, as a supervisor of shipping and receiving for over 20 years. He then began working for the Susquehanna Assoc for the Blind and Vision Impaired where he was in charge of inventory. A faithful member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, he was very active in the fundraisers for the S. June Smith Center, St. Anne's Retirement Community and SABVI. He enjoyed playing cards, especially Texas Holdem, and would often host casino games in his home. He loved the music of the Moody Blues and will be remembered as a compassionate man, a wonderful husband, friend and mentor. Surviving in addition to his wife are his in-laws, Harold E. (Anna Mae) Levering, Elizabethtown; an uncle, Wayne (Donna Lee) Boyd, Carlisle; a host of cousins and his faithful miniature Dachshund, Ginger. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Service honoring Ja's life 3 P.M. Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church 125 E. High Street Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Interment is private and at the convenience of his family. The family will receive friends from 2 P.M. until 3 P.M. If desired, memorial contributions may be made in Ja's memory to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Susquehanna Assoc for the Blind and Vision Impaired 244 N.
