Edward Janos Obituary

Published by Eaton Funeral Home on May 2, 2013.
Edward Howard Janos, 86, of Needham and Delray Beach FL, died May 2, 2013. He was born to the late Mack and Jean (Cantor) Janos on October 18, 1926, in New York City. Ed attended Forest Hills High School, NY and then served in the United States Air Force, 1944-1945. Ed received a BA in History from Colgate University, Hamilton, NY in 1949. He later received his MBA from the University of Chicago. Ed married the love of his life, Eloise Searing Janos in 1948 and they lived together in Prospect Heights, IL, Needham, MA and spent winters in Delray Beach, FL. Ed is sorely missed by his wife, Eloise and their two daughters, Barbara Janos Couch and her husband Richard, (Hanover, NH) and Nancy Janos Moore and her husband Richard, (Norfolk, MA). Ed loved his five grandchildren, Brooke Couch Freeland, Alexa Couch duPont, Chloe Couch Richards, Jennifer Janos Moore and Kyle Wilson Moore. He was blessed to have known his great granddaughters, Eloise and Emily Freeland. Ed is also survived by his only sibling, Muriel Lesser of Queens, NY and his three nieces and nephews, Joanne, Bobby and Kenny Lesser. Ed was Vice President, Sales and Marketing for the Bauer& Black Kendall Company. He later served as Vice President Sales and Marketing at Hyde Athletic Industries/Saucony. Ed was the Founder, Owner and CEO of a direct mail healthcare business, Support Plus, which he started in his basement and later moved to a facility in Medfield, MA. He sold that business at the age of 83 when he retired. Ed was known for living life to its fullest; he loved nothing more than bringing family and friends together for celebrations of life. Family dinners were his most favorite of times. He was an eternal optimist and loved sports of all kinds, especially tennis. Even in his final days, he was hopeful he would soon be back on the courts. Ed was passionate in his belief that we all have a responsibility to reach out and make the world a better place. He was a leader during the civil rights movement in the early 60's; he was very active in politics and he was a leader on many civic, social, and educational non-profit boards as well as industry boards. Edward Howard Janos lived life well. A celebration of the life of Ed Janos will be held on Father's Day, June 16th from 3-5 PM at Newbridge on the Charles in Dedham, MA . In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ed's name to his favorite charity, the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program, 780 Albany Street, Boston MA 02118.

Nancy,

So sorry to read about the passing of your father. I remember him making breakfast for us and driving us all over.....including the Thanksgiving morning Turkey Trot in Mt. Prospect. I know this is a few years late, but I just found his obit while Googling friends from the past and wanted you to know that he is a special childhood memory.

Best,
Patte
