Waterbury - Mr. Anthony Sylvario Capizzi, age 72, of Waterbury, passed away peacefully at his home, following a long battle with cancer, on Saturday December 28, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Marion (Salisbury) Capizzi. Mr. Capizzi was born in Waterbury on November 26, 1941 son of the late Benjamin and Rose (Scozzafava) Capizzi. He was retired from the City of Waterbury Street Department. He was a truly devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather whose family meant everything to him. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of various motorcycle clubs. He was an avid body builder, having won many local bodybuilding awards and was an avid New York Yankees and Giants fan. In addition to his wife, Mr. Capizzi is survived by two sons, John Capizzi and his companion Stacey Tiano of Beacon Falls and Marc Capizzi and his companion Paige Goldberg of Waterbury, three daughters, Lisa O'Donnell and her companion Mike Briglia of Wolcott, Holly Bridschge and her husband Dan of Wolcott, and Gina Capizzi and her companion Andrew Morrone of Waterbury, a sister, Sarah Capizzi of Las Vegas,NV, 10 grandchildren, Jeanette, Marco, Michael, Steven, Asia Lei, Amber, Anthony, Daniel, Antonia, and Nico, four great grandchildren, Jayden, Ashton, Aaliyah, and Laila and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Capizzi's family would like to thank the staff of the Waterbury V.N.A. Hospice H.O.P.E. Team for the compassionate care that they provided. Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 4, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Mill Plain Union Church 242 Southmayd Road Waterbury. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Waterbury at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Prospect Memorial Funeral Home 72 Waterbury Road Prospect is in charge of arrangements.
