Obituary published on Legacy.com by Prospect Memorial Funeral & Cremation Services on Mar. 30, 2026.
On March 25, 2026, Kari Hansen Webster passed away peacefully, leaving behind a 63-year legacy of profound love and grace. She was a devoted wife, a proud mother, a dear sister, and a source of light for all who knew her. Kari loved fiercely and lived softly, and she carried the warmth of a small-town upbringing everywhere life took her.
Kari's life was defined by her devotion to those she held dear, and her rare gift of making everyone she met feel seen. She made it her mission to remember your name, the small details and the things that mattered to you, and she would bring them back up later to let you know that she had been invested all along. Upbeat, bubbly, and relentlessly positive, Kari did not leave an impression in so many people's hearts through extravagant gestures, but rather through the simple and consistent act of caring. Kari was happiest at the beach, on ski slopes, and at a table with her family playing a boardgame. She was exceptional at sewing and crafting, loved playing the piano, and took great pride in her lovely garden.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Richard Webster, and her two children, Lauren Wilensky and her husband Josh, and Tyler Webster, who were the light of her life. She also leaves behind her siblings, Inger Hansen Eckert and Tor Stene Hansen, along with a wide circle of extended family and friends who will miss her spirit and presence dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Hendy Stene Hansen.
Born on November 29, 1962, she spent her formative years in
Doylestown, Pennsylvania. She had a love for music and was a natural leader at C.B. East High School as drum major of the marching band as well as a co-captain of the tennis team. Kari attended The Pennsylvania State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in International Politics with minors in German and Finance in 1985.
Upon graduation from Penn State, Kari moved to Delray Beach, Florida where she embarked on a career that spanned 40 years directing the marketing and advertising efforts of leading companies in the cruise, real estate, senior living, and home healthcare industries. Starting in 1986, Kari and her husband Rich built a life defined by adventure, family, and an openness to wherever the path led, from Penn State, to Florida, to New Jersey, to Seattle, Washington, and then landing in
Woodbridge, Connecticut in 1998.
To honor Kari's life and the joy she brought to the world, the family will be holding a private Celebration of Life. This will be a time to share stories, remember her laughter, and support one another in her memory. Please contact them directly for more information.
In Lieu of Flowers
In recognition of Kari's courageous journey and her love for Dr. Elena Ratner and her staff, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Discovery To Cure program at the Yale School of Medicine.
These contributions will support vital research, early detection, and the prevention of women's gynecologic cancers, continuing Kari's legacy of helping others.
