Cass A. Pinkerton

Dr. CASS A. PINKERTON, Zionsville, died November 27. Services for Dr. Cass A. Pinkerton 54, an interventional cardiologist, will be private. There will be no calling. Dr. Pinkerton was a founding member of Nasser, Smith & Pinkerton Cardiology. In 1980, he was the first surgeon to perform a successful angioplasty in the state. Dr. Pinkerton also was instrumental in testing the coronary stent and helped develop a national education program for physicians, which involved the Gianturco-Rubin Stent. He was a clinical assistant professor of medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis. He was director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, director of Catheterization Services and director of Intervention Cardiology at St. Vincent Hospital. He received a bachelor's degree from Indiana University in 1969 and graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1973. He was a member of the American College of Cardiology, International College of Angiology, American Medical Association, Indiana State Medical Association, Indiana Society of Coronary Angioplasty and Indianapolis Medical Society. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Society. Survivors include daughters Heather Pinkerton-Wilson, Kimberly Keck, Tobie Hall, Sara Van Bruaene; mother Harriett Bromley Pinkerton; brother Kirk A. Pinkerton; fiancée Leigh Halverson; five grandchildren. Flanner & Buchanan Zionsville Mortuary is handling arrangements.
