HOLLIDAY, GREG went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2014. He was born on May 15, 1950, to Charles and Ellen Holliday in Reseda, California. Greg is preceded in death by his parents, and his beloved daughter, Kathleen Edith Holliday White. Greg is survived by his wife of the home, Georgia Carol, to whom he was married for the past forty four years; grandson, Daniel Owens and wife, Julie of 29 Palms, California; father-in-law, Frank Quinn of San Angelo, Texas; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jerry and Candace Blackwood of San Angelo, Mike and Donna Weser of McKinney, and Mike and Jennifer Quinn of Flower Mound; grandchildren, Mikayla White and Michael Gregory White of Flower Mound; and great grandchildren of 29 Palms, California. Greg was born into a Jewish family tradition being the grandson of World War II Holocaust survivors but converted to the Christian faith when He received Jesus Christ by faith in 1990. Greg served in the Dallas Police Department for 32 years having begun his career in September of 1970 and worked his way through the ranks to the position of Assistant Chief of Police. As Assistant Chief, he commanded the Emergency Operations Center during 9/11 and received many awards including the Departmental Certificate of Merit Award for his work on streamlining the criminal Case Filing System; the Departmental Certificate of Civic Achievement and recognition from the Rotary International District 5810 for Ethics in Business/Government. Following his retirement from the Dallas Police Department in January of 2002, Greg was the Regional Director of Security for Crescent Real Estate Equities from August 2003 to September of 2007. In this position, he was responsible for the overall security operations for over 14 million square feet of Class A high rise office space located in seven states. He received Crescent's Star Award for his work during the Free Trade Area of America (FTAA) Summit and was nominated twice for the CEO Award of Excellence. Greg had a Master of Science in Human Relations and Management from Abilene Christian University at Dallas. In addition, he received a Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science and Criminal Justice Degree. Greg was a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum's Senior Management Institute, the United States Secret Service Dignitary Protection School, the Southwestern Law Enforcement Institute's (now known as the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration) School of Police Supervision and Command Management College. Through the years Greg earned respect in the Dallas Police Department as a results-driven builder who demanded accountability and who insisted on maintaining highest levels of ethical conduct. For many years, he was one of the Department's most respected "go-to" executives for complex, high profile assignments. He oversaw an independent special task force of local and federal officers investigating suspected construction irregularities at DFW International Airport. He also coordinated multi-agency intelligence management during the 1984 Republican National Convention. Specific command responsibilities included oversight of Internal Affairs, hiring and training of new officers, employee drug testing, internal auditing and strategic planning. At the time of his retirement, he was the Department's liaison in construction of the new $58 million Jack Evans Police Headquarters Building. Greg was a member of Park Cities Baptist Church and loved serving both the Lord and the City of Dallas through the years. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Park Cities Baptist Church.
