Frank Calamia Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 27, 2014.
Frank M. Calamia, Sr. was hands on, a roll your sleeves up, and do it kinda guy. Dad, Your guiding hand will remain with us forever. Frank had a sense of dedication, timing and a precision with a kind word or deed for someone who needed him. Where words fail, music speaks and, after 70 years, a lifelong melody of creativity, determination and leadership came to an end after on Tuesday May 27, 2014. We'll always remember that special smile, that caring heart, that warm embrace you always gave us. Mr. Calamia was born into a large family and spent his whole life in Norristown. He was a parishioner of St. Titus Church in East Norriton and had made a career as an electrical mechanic, with his brothers, that started with a single dump truck that they built into a successful construction enterprise. During his early years Frank had volunteered as a den leader and scoutmaster for boy scout troop 622 in East Norriton. He had been a lifelong musician who played the drums and had been a longtime member of Frankie & the Impalas. Family is like music. Some high notes, some low notes but always a good song. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Sandy (nee Sugalski) and his children; Frank M. & his wife Linda Calamia, Jr., Jeanne & her husband Joseph Fryday, John & his wife Nicole Calamia and Lauren-Ann & her husband Michael Grate. Mr. Calamia is the proud Pop Pop of; Courtney, Nicole, Brianna, Olivia, John Anthony, Bridget and Bella Rose. He is the brother of Joseph, Philip, Frances, Sara and the late Harry, Lena and Grace. Relatives and friends are invited to join the Calamia family to remember Frank, celebrate the gift of wheelin' & dealin' and pay tribute to a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather and brother on Sunday evening between 6:00 and 9:00 pm and on Monday morning between 10:00 and 11:30 am at the Boyd-Horrox Life Celebration Home 200 W. Germantown Pike, Norristown where a funeral ceremony will begin at 11:30. Interment and graveside tribute will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Norristown.
