James Joseph Duval, Sr. age 71 of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 18, 2014 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. Jim was born on October 28, 1942 in Haverhill, the son of the late Lucien J. and Margaret B. (Cunningham) Duval. A lifelong resident of Haverhill, he graduated from Haverhill High School. Jim worked as a truck driver for Beede Waste Oil in Plaistow, NH for many years. He also worked as an independent contractor. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, fishing and skiing with his family when they were younger. He was active as a coach in Baseball and soccer for the Haverhill Police Athletic League. He also coached for Haverhill Youth Hockey. Jim was predeceased by his wife, Edna Margaret (Hutchings) and his brother, Lucien J. Duval Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Lisa M. Duval of Salisbury, MA, his sons; James J. Duval Jr. and wife, Tina of Kingston, NH, Michael J. Duval of Haverhill, MA and Matthew J. Duval and husband, Malcolm of Provincetown, MA, brothers; Roland E. Duval and wife, Donna of Haverhill, MA and Thomas L. Duval and wife, Karen of Haverhill, MA, sister, Carol B. Friddle and partner, Arthur Marshall of Bridgewater, NH. Grandchildren; Richard J. Poor, Amanda M. Duval, James H. Duval and Sean Duval also survive him. Family and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 22, 2014 from 6 – 8 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street (Rt. 121A), Plaistow, NH 03865. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at 10 AM at All Saints Church in Haverhill, MA. The procession will begin to form at the funeral home at 9 AM.
