Christian Silva, 15, of Creston, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014 due to injuries from a pickup accident in Adams County. Celebration of Life services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the First Baptist Church 1001 N. Lincoln Street in Creston. Rev. Dave Tebbenkamp will officiate. Open visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family receiving friends 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, September 16th at the FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH in Creston. In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to a permanent memorial in Christian's name. Powers Funeral Home in Creston is assisting with arrangements. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com. Christian Allen Silva, son of Manuel Allen Silva and Chelsi Marie (Freemyer) Silva, was born on January 26, 1999 in Creston, Iowa. He was educated at Mayflower Christian School for one year; home schooled through the ninth grade, and currently was a sophomore at Southwest Valley High School in Corning. Christian was in youth group at the First Baptist Church in Creston and loved playing the piano and skateboarding. He played golf and baseball in school, lettering in golf. Survivors include his parents, Manny and Chelsi Silva of Creston; three sisters, Alexa Raye (Silva) Monte of Los Angeles, Calif., Grace Marie Silva, and Elizabeth Faith Silva, both at home; grandparents, Alan and Linda Johannes of Bridgewater, JoAnn Stephan of Moreno Valley, Calif., great-grandparents Doris Cooney of Corning, Denny and Ramona Johnson of Carbon, Wes Freemyer of Clearfield, Gloria Barrera of Anaheim, Calif., Larry and LuAnne Johannes of Corning; Chet and Mary Ann Cooper of Dexter; two aunts, Melissa (husband Timothy) Bartlett and Gentry Johannes; four uncles, Jake (wife Chantel) Dixon, Richard (wife Erica) Silva, Angel (wife Vanessa) Silva and Michael (wife Mirna) Silva and other aunts, uncles, cousins and family. Christian was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Manuel Silva Sr. in 2012 and Michael Freemyer in 1995; great-grandfathers, Karmit Cooney in 1997 and Juan Barrera in 2011 and great-grandmother, Jo Freemyer in 2014.
