Frances Merchant-Guidry Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 15, 2014.
Frances Marie Merchant-Guidry, 90, of Baytown, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, October 15, 2014, at her home with her children at her side, following a courageous battle with leukemia. She was born July 18, 1924, in Hearne, Texas, to Charlie C. Merchant, Sr. and Oral Ethel Jamison Merchant. Frances is preceded in death by her parents, C. C. and Ora Merchant; sisters, Euline Benbow, Maxine Hanson, and Doris Miller; brother, Charlie Merchant, Jr.; father of her children, T. C. Guidry, Sr.; and son-in-law, Dalton Lee Hillburn. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Cecil and Diane Guidry; daughters, Rita Hillburn and Marie Guidry; grandkids and great grandkids, Monica Winton and her son, Christopher Shelton, Kim and Daryl Trchalek, and their children, Collin, Kaden and Camron, Trey and Ann Guidry and their children, Megan, Tristan, Madelyn, and Bradley, and Suzanne and Richey Holland, and their children, Dalton and Karli and grand dog, Sassy. Other survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Margaret Merchant; a sister, Ora Jean Kitchen; and a number of very special nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Crespo and Jirrels Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2014, in the Chapel of Crespo & Jirrels, with Reverend John Newsome officiating. Interment will follow the service at Cedarcrest Cemetery. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Christopher Shelton, Richey Holland, Trey Guidry, Charles Benbow, Brent Guidry, and Tim Guidry. A reception will be held in the Family Center of Crespo & Jirrels Funeral and Cremation Services at the conclusion of all services. Having been born and raised during the perils of the Depression and of WWII made our Mother a strong and exceptional person. She was indeed an Angel on Earth by loving and caring for all she knew. She loved everyone, never judged, delicious cook, good listener, friend, beautiful at 90 years old, kind, and respected by many. Heaven has received a Special Angel. We will dearly miss this special Lady…Our "Momma" and "Nanny."
