Charles Wheeler Obituary

Visit the Cremation Society of New Hampshire - Manchester website to view the full obituary.
Charles "Charlie" Clark Wheeler, 60, of Weare, kicked the bucket, bought the farm, and ate his last pretzel on November 16, 2014. Married for 32 years to Annie Pleatsikas, he is also survived by what he always deemed his two finest accomplishments; his daughter Meredith, 22 of Weare, and his son Evan, 26 of Fairfax, VA., by his brother Jon of Milford, and nephew Jonathan Wheeler and his wife Amber of Manchester. Born in Manchester, he was the son of the late Charles R. & Barbara (Clark) Wheeler. Raised and educated in Manchester, he was a graduate of Memorial High School, Class of 1972, and a graduate of Manchester Community College; HVAC, second in his class (he always reminded anyone of that). Charlie lived life in his own way. He held sweet memories of the times he spent at "Camp Weownit" that he owned with his brother. He was notorious for his numerous sound effects, sense of humor, and easy smile. He was a brilliant mechanically gifted man, inventor of tools and pre-eminent house fixer-upper, and was always puttering around. Charlie's many talents included repairing cars and motorcycles, riding his Harley, barbequing and hanging around the fire pit. Best known for his fashion sense, Charlie consistently wore white tube socks, tank tops, shorts, flannel shirts, fleece vests, a sweaty baseball cap, and raggedy, barely wearable sneakers. He was a rabid fan of the Red Sox and Patriots, long before it was fashionable. Charlie loved to snowmobile on his Artic Cat, but hated snow blowing and took such joy in dumping snow on his kids. His favorite holiday was Christmas and enjoyed putting up the lights around the house and watching Christmas movies. In the summertime, Charlie could be found in the garden tweaking the tomato stakes, feeding the birds and squirrels. He was fiercely independent, hated haircuts and dressing up for an occasion. He frequently referenced the Three Stooges-"I'll find that shutoff yet" and "I've got static in the left eye". Charlie adored his German Shepherds, Zeffer and Teva and his cat Minkie. He was a hard-working man, loyal, silly, kind, gentle, respectful and incredibly generous. May you rest peacefully, honey. .In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Road, Manchester, NH 03102 (www.manchesteranimalshelter.org) or to the Animal Rescue League of N.H., 545 Route 101, Bedford, NH 03110 (www.rescueleague.org). ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends will gather to celebrate Charlie's life on Thursday, November 20th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Cremation Society of New Hampshire, 243 Hanover St.,(corner of Union St.) Manchester, NH

From Charlie's obit: "Charlie consistently wore white tube socks, tank tops, shorts, flannel shirts, fleece vests, a sweaty baseball cap and raggedy, barely wearable sneakers."
Hmmm...I'm a married gal and I dress like that.
Charlie, sounds like you're a soul mate to many of us New Hampshire folks.
My condolences to your family. It will take awhile for them to get to the new "normal" without you, but you left a wonderful example on how to carry on. What a lasting gift!
I never met you but I'm inspired by how you lived your life.
I thank your family for sharing you with us.

Hello Charles, It sounds like your time here was well spent. Your family seems to be doing well and you left a great impression on them. When you get to heaven would you please keep and eye out for my son Stephen. He is just 16 years old, he was not able to speak while here with us, so he is probably going to be talking non-stop. He will probably be riding a horse often too. Please keep an eye on him for me and let him know to wait for me. Thank you, Joseph Segura

Worked with Charlie years ago servicing cell tower sites. He called me out of the blue a few months ago. Great guy, I think it was Friday that was always chinese food day, wherever we were Charlie would find a chinese restaurant and we would go. Always talked about prime rib on Saturday and shrimp scampi on Sunday or was it the other way around? I use the scampi recipe to this day. Good guy sorry he's gone.

Dear Annie and family .... we are so saddened by Charlie's passing. I really liked Charlie -- what a nice man and great sense of humor. I recall having a blast with him at one of the beach parties -- he had me crying as he played the best damn air-guitar I ever say to some Led Zep or Journey song that was on ... we laughed till it hurt.. it hurts again.

Anne and family,

I'm sorry for your loss. He was a great guy, I'm sure, from what I read in the paper.

I'd not even known, save the wonderful obit in the paper, that was pointed out to me, and also talked about on the radio, I'm told.

Though I haven't seen you since high school, I'm sure you picked a winner. He was one hell of a guy for sure.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this difficult time.

May it comfort you to know that he is watching down on all of you with a smile, until you meet again up above. Take care, and God bless.

The caterpillar dies so the butterfly could be born. And, yet, the caterpillar lives in the butterfly and they are but one. So, when we die, it will be that we have been transformed from the caterpillar of earth to the butterfly of the universe. May Heaven's gardens be filled with Tomato's & Butterflies.

Charlie is and will be sorely missed. We will keep alive memories of his witty jokes, animated impressions, light-hearted deportment, and humble disposition. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who are closest to him – Annie, Meredith, Evan, Jon. As Charlie put it one evening while belting out some karaoke on Wells Beach, “life is a highway” – it certainly is, and our time in it passes much too quickly. Nevertheless, as we continue to ride it, we will forever remember Charlie for the man he was and the love that he has for his family.
