Amelia Love Tyer, age 65 of East Ridge, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on January 14, 2015 following a brave and lengthy battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family in Locust, NC. Amelia was born in Johnson City, TN to the late John and Myrtle Love. Amelia was one of a kind and will be remembered for her unique, personality. She never met a stranger and always enjoyed a conversation with anyone, anywhere, anytime. She also loved tending her plants and gardening. She had a generosity of spirit with her husband, son and grandchildren that will be dearly missed. She was affectionately known as La-te-da by her grandchildren. Amelia was retired in 2002 from the real estate business and was a lifelong member of Downtown Christian Church, Johnson City, Tn. She was a wonderful mother, wife, and an extraordinary friend. She was given only a few months to live five yrs. ago. Her bravery and unending hope will always serve as an exceptional example of how to face a terminal illness with grace and determination. The loss of Amelia has left a hole in all of our hearts. She will be missed, everyday. Amelia is survived by her devoted husband, of 37 yrs., David M. Tyer; son, David M. (Elvira) Tyer, Jr.; grandchildren, Shannon Amelia Tyer and Joshua Rodrigueza Tyer; sisters, Robin (Jeff) West, Linda Love, and Melissa Love; brother, Steven (Debbie) Love; step-brothers, David (Vivian) Mayer and Tim (Debbie) Mayer A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, with Bro. Jeff West officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon on Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home-Wallis Stewart Chapel Ringgold, Georgia. The family would like to thank the caregivers from Hospice of Chattanooga and Hospice of Stanley County, NC for their support during this difficult time. A special thanks to Robin, Jeff, and Abigail West for their many sacrifices, support and unending hospitality which allowed Amelia to be surrounded by all of her family and dearest loved ones during her final days.
