Richard Lynn Hankins, 62, of Riverview, Florida, and formerly of Charleston, SC, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2015. His Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 24, 2015 in the J. HENRY STUHR, INC. WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Richard, son of the late Wilson Parrott Hankins and Bonnie Louise Black Hankins, was born August 23, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri and lived there until he and his family moved to Charleston, SC in 1961, where his father had acquired a new job. Richard was a protective big brother to his two younger sisters. He left home to join the U.S. Air Force, and after leaving the Air Force, he made Florida his home, where he lived until his death.Richard had many jobs, ending up Tampa Armiture Works (TAW) focusing on what he loved. He was a hard worker, was intelligent and could do anything to which he set his mind. He had many friends, who will all miss him very much. Richard loved fishing and boating, and lived across from the water. He loved following the Kansas City Chiefs. He is survived by his sisters, Carolyn J. Hankins of Charleston, SC and Kendra L. Morton of Yelm, WA; and his niece, Bonnie Malia Morton and her husband, Samuel Axe.
