View Slideshow Douglas James Metta of Ashburn, VA, formerly of Norwood, MA and Woonsocket, RI passed away on June 16, 2009. He was 37 years old. Douglas was the devoted husband of Kimberly Galipeau Metta, beloved son of Adele MacKoul Metta and the late Albert A. Metta, cherished brother of David Metta and his wife Lauren, of Norwood, Cheryl MacDonald and her husband Brian of Norwood, Cathy Baroody and her husband David of Ashburn, VA, Cristal Gallagher and her husband John of Ashburn, VA and Carissa Kane and her husband Paul of Walpole. Douglas is also survived by his mother-in-law Elaine Heath and her husband Douglas of Greenville, RI, father-in-law William Galipeau of Woonsocket, RI and brother in-law William G. Galipeau and his wife Rebecca of Charlestown, MA and adored by his many loving nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He will also be missed by his beloved beagle, Charlie. An eternal optimist, Douglas was good-natured and compassionate with a great sense of humor. A graduate of Johnson and Wales, Douglas worked as an executive chef and he enjoyed creating new dishes. He loved to play the drums and took great interest in the pursuits of his nieces and nephews. Douglas’ strength and quiet demeanor were an inspiration to all who crossed his path. A beautifully personal and inspirational Funeral Mass was celebrated June 22, 2009 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole. Visiting hours were held June 21, 2009 at the Kfoury Keefe Funeral Home 8 Spring St. West Roxbury. Contributions in Douglas’ memory may be made to the Experimental Transplantation and Immunology Branch (ETIB) of the National Cancer Institute, National Institutes of Health, Building 31, Room 11A-16, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, MD 20892. Interment Mt. Benedict, West Roxbury, MA.
