NORTH ADAMS: Francis James Dean Sr., 64, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2015. He graduated from Holyoke High School and went on to earn a B.S. in Exercise Physiology from Umass/Amherst. During college he was a member of the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC), where he became a Major Lieutenant Officer. He was also proud to have won the National Marine Corps Physical Fitness Test as a youth. Frank was a track and football captain during high school and went on to mentor his son Frankie, who was also an accomplished, championship Track and Cross-Country running athlete at Holyoke High School. Frank was employed as a Physical Education Director at Walpole Correctional Facility at Cedar Junction and a gym teacher for the Chicopee Public Schools. He was an intellectual who loved to read, and became an exceptional writer while composing a manuscript for a book. Frank loved learning about science and new discoveries. He was a born adventurer who was enamored with the mountains and anything to do with being outdoors in nature. Francis devoted his life to his two children. His son Frankie Jr. , predeceased him unexpectedly in 2013. He leaves behind his only daughter, Kelly Dean of Holyoke, Ma.. Both: Kelly and Frankie cherished the time they spent with their dad and benefitted tremendously from his profound influence in their lives. He will be extraordinarily missed. Frank also departs from 5 brothers: Alfred Dean, William Dean, Thomas Dean, Mark Dean Ph. D., and Edward Dean M.D.. He is predeceased by his mother: Claire Provencher-Dean, father: William Dean Sr., and brother Christopher Dean. There will be no calling hours. Burial and services will be private at the discretion of the family.

It has been one year since you have been gone dad. I miss you now more than ever. Thank you for teaching Frankie and I so many things, and taking us on so many outdoor adventures. Please take care of each other up in Heaven. Someday we will be together again. I will love you until eternity. Kisses and Hugs. Rest in Peace.
