MICHAEL D. EVANS age 75, beloved husband of Patricia  (nee McGreevy); loving father of Kathryn "Kate" Zolikoff (husband Nicholas); devoted grandfather of Michael, Mara, Nicholas, and Justina; cherished son of the late Mike and Fannie (nee Stakich); dearest brother of Joyce Koreman (husband Case), Kathie Brandenburg (husband Jack deceased), and the late Myra Balunek (husband John deceased); dear brother-in-law of James J. McGreevy (wife Linda); fond uncle and great-uncle of many; former husband of the late Margaret (nee O'Byrne). Michael was born on May 29, 1940 and passed away on April 8, 2016. He was a 44 year resident of Mayfield Village. Michael was a member of St. Noel Catholic Church for over 20 years. He attended St. Aloysius grade school, and graduated from St. Ignatius High School. Michael also received a Bachelor’s degree from John Carroll University. He owned and operated Evans Brake and Tire shops from 1969 through 1992. Following that he opened a new product development company called Kateco where he holds many patents for mechanical devices. In 2003 he joined his wife in their financial services firm where he advanced to Regional Vice President for Primerica. Throughout his life, Michael was greatly influenced by his Jesuit education where he sought to use his time, talent, and treasure as a Man for God. He remained active at John Carroll with the Class of 62 reunions and other activities. His hobbies included gardening and cooking. Michael was an excellent chef and loved entertaining his family and friends. A diehard Browns fan, he held season tickets for over 35 years. A highlight for him was seeing the 1987 playoffs in Denver. Michael was always comfortable in a tuxedo and strove to conduct himself as a gentleman after his role model, Cary Grant. No one knew what unexpected surprise they would receive from this wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle or friend. He loved his pets, Macaroni, Riley, alley cat Gallagher, and grand dog Max. He had fond memories of Honeymoon Acres, his family farm, and all the lamb and pig roasts. His life code was "Honor is a gift that a man gives himself." His motto was "Never give up, never ever give up." He will be missed greatly by his "Doll" and "Sunshine", Kate and Nick, and four incredibly beautiful, talented and wonderful grandchildren whom he loved to spoil. Michael was a gentle but very stong, caring and giving man with a great sense of humor. He made people feel special, included, and welcome. This special man will be missed by all who knew him. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, April 14, 2016 at St. Noel Catholic Church 35200 Chardon Rd, Willoughby Hills, OH 44094 at 10 AM. Burial following at All Souls Cemetery. Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Michael at THE DeJOHN-FLYNN-MYLOTT FUNERAL HOME OF WILLOUGHBY HILLS, 28890 CHARDON ROAD (between Bishop Rd. and Rt. 91) WEDNESDAY 2-4 & 5-8 PM Offer Condolence for the family of Michael Evans

Mike was first class. A great ambassador for John Carroll University. I used to buy tires from him at his shop in East Cleveland. Honest and fair as the day is long. His personality and integrity won him many friends. I am proud to have been one of them.-- Paul Kantz, JCU '63
