Thomas Francis Savage, 65, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Deborah M. Savage, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends at his home on Wednesday, May 4, 2016. Tom was born August 3, 1950 in New York, New York, son of the late Thomas A. Savage and the late Jane A. Savage. He held a B.S. from Northeastern University (1974) and an M.B.A from Babson College (1977). Tom had a successful career leading the operations of companies in the fashion industry including Faded Glory, Oleg Cassini, Ralph Lauren, and Putumayo, as well as a leather goods manufacturer, Trafalgar/Ghurka. Most recently Tom transitioned to a career as a management consultant to companies such as Uninonwear, a manufacturer of U.S. made apparel and Volkl, a global tennis brand. Over the years his career allowed him to travel the world, including a period living and working in Hong Kong. All who knew Tom were well aware of his intense passion for skiing, which he taught himself to do at a young age and was an activity he continued throughout his life. Skiing was a bond that created many of his life-long friendships and is a passion that he has passed down to his children. Tom combined his love of skiing with his travels, skiing on three different continents; however, Alta and the other ski areas around Park City, Utah were his favorite destinations. In addition, Tom greatly enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the family home on Sebago Lake, Maine, including watching sunsets over the lake accompanied with a gin & tonic and the occasional lobster party. He was active in many outdoor sports, including tennis, mountain biking, cycling, water skiing and kayaking, and maintained a life-long love of fast cars and rock & roll. A devoted football fan, Tom made watching the New England Patriots a priority. He was also beloved by his dogs, Bismarck, Cooper, Boomer and Trevor. A much loved friend, uncle and brother-in-law, Tom is survived by his wife, Deborah Savage of Mt. Pleasant, SC; son, Tom Savage and his wife, Jeri, of Wilton, CT; daughter, Nicole Albrecht and her husband, Ted, of Saint Louis, MO; grandchildren, Abby Savage, Colin Savage, Haley Albrecht and Caroline Albrecht; sister, Debi Weinshank and her husband Arthur, of Roxbury, CT; brother, Donald Savage and his wife, Pam, of Washington, D.C.; and brother-in-law, Bob Murphy of Park City, UT. He was preceded in death by his sister, Laura Murphy. Tom was energetic, hardworking, spirited and steadfast and will be deeply missed. A Celebration of Life service will take place outside at Dunes West Golf Club (3535 Wando Plantation Way, Mount Pleasant, SC 29466, 843-856-9000) with a reception immediately following on Thursday, June 16 at 4:00 pm. For those that can join us, our family will be hosting a dinner at the house that evening. Please advise if you can attend. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL.

I am so very shocked and sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I was the first person Tom met at Trafalgar, when he came to see Marley.I remember talking with him before he went in for his interview. I ended up reporting directly to him. I had the greatest respect for him. Besides being an extremely bright businessman, he was ethical and fair in dealings with people. It was a pleasure knowing him.
Again, I am so very sorry for your loss.

I worked with Tom at Trafalgar. He was more than a coworker, he was a someone I respected, and he stepped in to help me when I had a difficult situation. I was young, maybe 30, and he was about 12 years my senior. i didn't know anything about finances but had to handle my parents' estates, as they'd passed away. Tom put me in touch with an honest financial professional, the same person he used, which completely put my nerves at ease about investing properly for my future. I was so scared I'd make a mistake. As it turns out, the advisor he put me in touch with was also a good person with integrity, who helped me over the following 20 years. Tom's stepping in to help me, helped me then, and through extension, for many years afterwards.

My heart goes out to his family and friends. I send my utmost condolences, and prayers.

We are so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. Debbie and the family are in our thoughts and prayers. Pancreatic cancer has taken one of our family members. We pray research will yield a method of earlier detection. We will always think of Tom walking by on the beach at Sebago.

You had much yet to do and were far too young to be taken from all of us. Your friends here at Sebago will miss you deeply and promise to remember you with Tom Tales and humor. We will never forget you. To all the Savages et al, we send our heartfelt condolences upon your great loss of a fine man.

I was very upset when Dick Green told me about Tom. I always considered him a good friend and one of the smartest business men I have ever worked with. My condolences to the entire family.

Dear Tom,

We were so sorry to hear about your father. As you may know, we lost our dear son-in-law, David, to pancreatic cancer this time last year. Dave was 43, with no symptoms until he was diagnosed with stage four, and died two weeks after he was diagnosed. Pancreatic cancer is an ugly disease, and robs families of their loved ones way too quickly.

Our heart goes out to you and your family during this difficult time.

I cannot express my sympathies adequately but I am heartbroken for you my dear.
