I just recently learned of Mr. Urquhart's passing. I've lived away from Fort Walton Beach for many years. I had Mr. Urquhart for Algebra 1 during 1973 Summer School at Bruner Jr. High School. He has a Divine Gift for teaching mathematics and making it so understandable and fun. I miss him. I send my condolences and best to him, his family, and loved ones.

Mr. Urquhart was the only teacher who ever piqued my interest in math. Even after I graduated from Ft. Walton High School he still remembered me. My thoughts and prayers are extended to the family of this special educator.

It's hard to say goodbye to a special friend of 44 years. Thanks for the Memories Neal of your infectious smile, great bear hugs, great tennis matches, nightly studying at FSU. flipping to see who paid for sodas, enjoying Snover's class, mocking Wills and Myles, great FSU reunions for over 40 years, sharing of wonderful Math. classroom experiences, fun at Niagara Falls. However my best memory of Neal was his awe in experiencing NYC for the first time. His head was 90 degrees north and how he avoided disaster I'll never know. It was a joy to see my buddy truly loving the experience. So Farewell good friend, I will miss you tremendously, Until we meet again, May God hold you in the palm of his hand

I don't have any pictures of my Uncle Neal, but the truth is- I don't need any. As soon as anyone mentions his name, I can see him clear as day. Sparkling blue eyes, wide smile, open arms. I've never known anyone so welcoming. As soon as Neal locked his eyes on you, you knew you were the most important, most interesting person he ever knew. He always made everybody feel like somebody, and that's a gift. Neal never missed a chance to laugh, never missed a chance to hug, never missed a chance to connect. The world feels a little darker without you, Uncle Neal. But I promise I'm going to try and channel you every day. Love and miss you. Happy travels on the other side.

I went to Choctaw with Neal, and sat near him in several classes. I remember him as quiet, kind, and the kind of very smart person who never thinks of trying to prove how smart he is. His memory makes me smile, even now. May Neal's family find comfort in their faith, and in each other.

My friend Neal, was simply the BEST. Neal was a great teacher of higher mathematics and he was loved by so many students - then and now. Many of Neal's students and tennis players have written about Neal's tremendous positive influence on their lives. Neal demonstrated the highest integrity and modeled professionalism as a teacher and coach. He was always, calm, cool, and collected.
Neal was a great tennis player too. That is how we became friends. We played doubles together in many tennis tournaments and, at our level, we won every tournament we entered! I always enjoyed playing tennis with Neal. He loved the game, was a great competitor, and always conducted himself as a gentleman. He lifted my game, my spirits, and --- he was even able to temper my competitiveness.
I know Neal loved his family immensely. Beginning in the 1970's, when we first played tennis so frequently, Neal always spoke lovingly of his boys and his family. And, he always asked about my family and my son. Most recently, in his last days when I visited him, Neal's greatest concern was for his family and his wife, Sharon. He was always a kind and caring person.
Neal was a model for all of us. I will miss him so much. I'll never forget Neal. Neal was one of God's blessings in my life.

My heart is heavy with the loss of a special friend. Although I only met Neal a few years ago this quiet, soft spoken gentleman made me and everyone he came in contact with feel like family. He was never at a loss for his willingness to share a story and made sure you stayed attentive until its end. His gifts, his Love and his beautiful compitive spirit will remain and sustain us all until we meet again.
