Norine Sharp

NORINE WINES SHARP, age 93, longtime proud resident of Cleveland Hts., died Wednesday, July 13. Beloved wife of the late Robert W. for 52 years; cherished mother of Kathleen Samuel (Larry) of Solon, Pamela Adamson (David) of Highland Hts., Janet Schoon (Marcus) of Troy, MI, Andrea Bobak of Solon and Gail Sharp of Dublin, OH; dear grandmother of Karen Samuel Boley (Aaron), Carl Samuel (Kristina), Robert Adamson (Jennifer), Jeffrey Adamson (Jennifer), Kenneth Schoon, Julianna Schoon, Katherine Bobak Lavik (Andrew), Steven Bobak and Anthony Bobak; loving great-grandmother of Elise, Noelle, Emma, Audrey and Kent. Norine was a graduate of Shaw High School, received her Bachelor's degree in music education from Baldwin-Wallace College and her Master's degree from Teachers College, Columbia University.  She taught instrumental music in the Cleveland Heights Public Schools for five years before leaving to raise her five daughters.  She also taught private clarinet lessons out of her home and was active in many music organizations, including Mu Phi Epsilon, Music and Drama, Fortnightly Musical Club and Musical Art Society, and she was an avid supporter of the Cleveland Orchestra.  Norine was very active in her church, Epworth-Euclid United Methodist Church (now University Circle UMC), where she sang in the chancel choir for nearly 70 years and composed and conducted many benediction and prayer responses.  Over the years, she chaired nearly every committee, proofed bulletins, hosted annual choir picnic extravaganzas and performed in church musicals.  Having started life as a Depression Era child, Norine never lost her humble appreciation for the blessings that she received in her husband, her children, the grands and the great-grands, traveling to places she never thought she'd see, living in the home of her dreams for 50 years. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to University Circle United Methodist Church, the Ohio Music Education Association Foundation for Music Education, the Cleveland Orchestra, or the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music Education Department.
