Lavon I. Wiggins

Lavon I. Wiggins, Nee Button, age 95, of Joliet, passed away peacefully at home into the arms of Jesus on August 3, 2016. Lavon was born May 7, 1921, at Silver Cross Hospital, Joliet. She was a 1938 graduate of Hecla High School, SD. Survived by her loving husband of 74 years, Lyle Wiggins; daughters Linda (Jim) DeHart, Pamela (Late Tom) Campbell, Laurie (Jack, Jr.) Howard; 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Fern Button and a sister Ellen. Lavon was a homemaker before being employed by the Home Savings and Loan, Joliet, as a bank teller. A member of Ridgewood Baptist Church since 1951, she also worked as the church secretary and served as Sunday School Teacher and in the church Guild for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading and looking at family photos. A heartfelt thank you to Joliet Area Community Hospice and the many caregivers who lovingly helped in her care. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 5, 2016, from 4:00PM until 8:00PM at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 102 E. Francis Rd. New Lenox, IL, 60451. Funeral Service on Saturday, August 6, 2016, in the funeral home chapel at 10:00AM with a viewing starting at 9:00AM. Interment will follow to Maplewood Cemetery, New Lenox. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to Ridgewood Baptist Church, Joliet, or Community Christian School, New Lenox, would be appreciated.
