Alice Louise Irvine

Alice Laflin Irvine, 93, of Dunedin Fl and Winthrop ME, entered into her new journey in Palm Harbor, Fl Wednesday evening (8/31/16). The funeral services will be held at 11 AM on 9/12 in Winthrop, ME. Services will be conducted at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Church followed by a burial ceremony at the Maine Veterans Cemetery at 1PM. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Roberts Funeral Home in Winthrop. Alice was born in Presque Isle, ME on July 12th, 1923. She graduated from Presque Isle High School and The Hartford Hospital School of Nursing and continued on to the Army Nurse Corp in April, 1945. She served in WWII in the Pacific Campaign until June 1947 achieving the rank of First Lieutenant. Alice married the love of her life, Athill Irvine, on January 3rd,1949. They journeyed through life together for 63 years raising a family of nine children and touching the lives of many others. She enjoyed playing golf and tennis and was a fan of all sports. She loved to read, knit, cook, and entertain friends and family. Alice was a devout Catholic who always believed in the power of prayer and the comfort of love and forgiveness. Alice is survived by her children Cynthia Isom, Susan Walters (Daniel), Bonnie Valls, Seldon (Deborah), Thomas (Deborah), William, Christopher (Elizabeth), and Gordon. She is also survived by one sister, Connie Patterson, 13 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Athill, two sons, Gerard and Timothy and grandson Mathew. Alice leaves behind a legacy of love, caring, determination and joy. She will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to Hospice Care.
