Lillian R. "Libby" Zietz, 93, of Avon, and formerly of West Hartford, passed away on November 26, 2016. Lillian was predeceased by her husband, Leon Zietz and beloved daughter, Judy Koch Tinsley and her brothers, Dr. Mandel Rubin and Arthur Rubin. She is survived by her devoted son, Gerry Zietz, five dear grandchildren, Lisa Koch Rao and her husband, Ashvin of Bronxville, NY, Steven Koch and his wife, Sari of Orange, and Mark Koch of New York City and Erica Zietz Baldwin and her husband, Michael of Granby, and Max Zietz and his wife, Erin of Glen Spey, NY, her sons-in-law, Dennis Tinsley of Avon, and Charles Koch of North Haven, and loving daughter-in-law, BG Zietz of Simsbury, and 9 beautiful great grandchildren, Lauren and Porter Rao, Annie and Charlotte Baldwin, Tucker, Brayden and Finley Zietz and Rafi and Naomi Koch. She is also survived by her nieces, Dr. Patricia Rubin and her partner, Theresa, and Dr. Sheila Rubin, all of Ohio and Dr. Barbara Fried and her husband, Gordon and her nephew, Michael Wald and his wife, Gloria, and their families all of MA. Lillian received her undergrad degree in English from St. Joseph's College in West Hartford, and her master's degree in English from Trinity College in Hartford. She was a retired English teacher having spent over 20 years in the New Britain school system and after retirement, was a substitute teacher at Conard, Hall and Avon High Schools. In her earlier years, she was co-president of Conard High School PTA, a director/producer of the musical she called "No Ivy Yet" in honor of the beginning of King Phillip School in order to raise money for school uniforms, a founding member of Beth El Temple in West Hartford, on their board of Education and recording secretary. She also tutored Russian immigrant children in the English language. She was an avid gardener in her cherished home on Westmont in West Hartford and in her later years she was an avid scrabble and bridge player with many of her cherished friends at Farmington Woods. Her most delightful times in life were spent with her family where she cooked many a specialty meal as well as treating to special dinners out at lovely restaurants. Mom, "Strudel", Grandma, "Sweet Wrinkles", Great Grandma, Aunt, and Great Aunt, you will forever be in our hearts and memories. A memorial service is planned for January 8, 2017 at 1:30 pm at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center 301 Country Club Road Avon, followed by a reception at the home of Gerry Zietz.
