William Morison Obituary

William "Bill" A. Morison, 91, of Abington, died on December 3, 2016. He was born on October 21, 1925 in Avon, MA. Bill was the son of the late William and Ethel (Oakes) Morison. He was raised and educated in Avon but would later move to Groton, CT and graduate from Groton High School. Bill graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Business Administration. Bill was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. After the military, he worked as a salesman for the Chicago Rawhide company for 35 years. Bill was a proud member of the National Association of Destroyer Veterans (Tin Can Sailors), the Wampatuck Masonic Lodge where he was a 65-year Master Mason, the Satucket Pilgrim Royal Arch Chapter, the South Shore Commandery #15 Knights Templar, the Abington American Legion, the Abington VFW, the Clan Morrison Society of North America, the Aleppo Shriners and the NRA. Bill will be remembered for his amazing work ethic and his love for carpentry, crosswords, trips to Maine, traveling, golf and the pride he took in his surroundings. Bill leaves behind his long time companion Ruth Cook of Abington, her family and her dog Lightning, also his cousin Edith Sheehan of FL. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bill's life at the United Church of Christ, 10 Bedford St. Abington, on Tuesday December 13, 2016 at 11:00 AM. Bill and I would always sit together at John Cutler Masonic Lodge. I also have a place on a lake in Maine and we would share our similar experiences and memories of being there. Occasionally, when delivering meals on wheels in Abington, I would see Bill walking Ruth's dog.
