Great guy and great friend. Worked with Sam at the RRC for several years, we always had fun on our "outings" to the field.

Got to know Sam when I worked for Mitchell Energy Corp at Bridgeport, Tx and he was with the RRC. Great friend and person. He will always be in my thoughts. We had a lot of good times out on locations. My prayers are with you.

Janis I'm sorry to hear about Sam leaving us here and going to be with our Lord & Savior. You are loved by family and so many friends at CBCB plus the great God of all the universe. Did not know Sam but I did see how much love you showed for this partner in life. I'm glad you all had so many special memories and days together. May our Lord Jesus Christ wrap his loving arms around you and give you the Peace and Comfort you need. All my Love Lois Garber

Growing up I always looked forward to a visit from Aunt Goldie and Uncle Sam! They were two of my favorites and I loved them both dearly! Uncle Sam was such a sweetie, a kind soul. The Pete Swinea family here in Oklahoma grieve with the rest of the family the loss of this really good man. We offer our prayers for peace and comfort to Janis and the rest of the family.

Our Uncle Sam! Had to smile when I saw his full name. He was one precious man of few words but always a blessed smile that we could always count on. He was my Precious Mom, Sybil's, baby brother and they had a beautiful bond as Mom always said she'd about half raised Sam. Their mannerisms and looks were so similar that even after she died in 1983, I could see Sam & feel my Moms presence. I would have to apologize to Sam for staring, smiling, & hugging him when I got to spend any time with him. He visited when we were losing our Dad in the hospital, bringing us donuts, which led to many tears on my part. I felt like Mom was there through him comforting us. Sounds like he shared a great many blessings with his second family and am so happy you loved him as we all did. God's blessings on you all!

Janis, I join all of the Caldwell family sending a prayer for peace and comfort for you and our family. Sam lived closest to us whenever he was in Perryton and we were in Borger. I remember a few trips to visit and how special he made my brothers and I feel. His ever present smile and his joy for living is a legacy that I know I will cherish. A personal "Thank You" for filling the void in his life when Goldie passed away, and "thank you" for your loving care for this special man. May GOD grant you strength for the days and challenges ahead, wisdom and discernment for all you have to do, HIS peace and protection through this time and as you continue your journey. You are all in my prayers.

There are many things that I miss about my "papa" but let me tell you one. I remember him taking my sister and I fishing many times and we would always catch them darn perch. I mean catch a lot of them too. He would show us how to hook the work and cast it in the water, reel the fish back in. Now I don't remember taking it off the hook. Neck, I don't do that now. (Laughing)
We would take these fish back to my grandma Goldie and she would not say a word about how many she just fried. I hate to we made her do that because we did not like that fish. But you know what my papa never complained about taking us back out.
I will miss you papa so very much! You are in a place where the sun shines everyday and your garden blooms those little red cherry tomatoes all year round. ( To those who know what I'm talking about) I will miss you so very much!!
Say hello to grandma Goldie for us.
Love you
