Wei-Chung Yang Obituary

Published by Carmon Windsor Funeral Home on Apr. 30, 2017.
Wei-Chung Yang, 49, of Avon, beloved husband of Tsui-Min "Tracy" Hung, passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully, with family by his side on April 30, 2017. He was born in Taiwan and moved to the U.S. in 1992. He received Master's degrees from Wayne State University in Clinical Laboratory Science and the University of Minnesota in Health Informatics. He worked for the University of Minnesota as a member of a Medicare data advisory team. Wei most recently worked at Cigna as an informatics senior specialist managing IT projects. He was a valuable technical resource. In his 15 years at Cigna, his strong work ethic was appreciated by his co-workers. A loving family man, Wei was very proud of his son Tony, a freshman at Johns Hopkins University, and his daughter, Grace, who is a student at Avon High School. Wei's zeal for life was contagious. He had a great sense of humor and dreamed of becoming a comedian. When visiting his family in Taiwan, they would say that was the happiest time of the year. Wei enjoyed working in his yard and traveling. A great friend and a great man, he will be missed dearly. Wei is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Tracy; his son Tony; his daughter Grace, his mother and three sisters who live in Taiwan, and many nieces and nephews. A memorial ceremony will be held Sunday, May 7th at 10 AM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. Following the prayer ceremony, friends are invited to share memories. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor may be made to Hwazan Buddhist Foundation by check to: 1110 Edmonds Ave. NE, Renton, WA 98056 (dedicated for Renton Temple operation), or Helen Keller International, 352 Park Avenue South, 12th Floor, New York, NY 10010.

We have known Wei since we moved to Avon in 1998. We are all still in shock to hear of his unexpected passing. Our family has lost a great friend and brother. We will miss his jokes, travel stories, stories on how to live life, and advice on anything from yard work to where to retire. Our sincerest condolences to Tracy, Tony and Grace. Wei, I know you are in good hands, rest in peace...

We have lost a great friend this week. Wei was the funniest person I have ever met; he always had a funny personal story to share when we saw him. He was a great family man and an awesome comedian in our hearts. Wei, we will miss your company, your silly, funny stories, emojis texts, and most of all we will miss your big smile. Rest in peace buddy, you are in a good place.

Tracy, Tony and Grace,
I can't begin to tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Wei and I started work at Cigna around the same time. He was not only a valued colleague, but I considered him a good friend. He spoke very proudly of his family, so much so that I feel I know you. Wei always had a way of making all of his coworkers laugh with his unique spin on things. He will be so greatly missed by all of us at Cigna, not only for his outstanding contributions and knowledge, but for simply making our day a bit brighter.

I had the pleasure of working with Wei for several years. He was smart and always helpful. He'd stop by my desk and greet me with a "Mr. John". Funny, I can still hear him saying it. My sincere condolences to Wei's family.
