When I stopped into Bill Marsh Ford (now Fred Beans) yesterday, I heard about Lance. My deepest sympathies to your whole family. I felt compelled to send a quick note to let you know the amazing person that Lance was! Lance was one of those people in our lives that took the effort to be extraordinary every day in his life! He was the reason that I continued to take my vehicles to Bill Marsh Ford for over 20 years! He was a honest and sincere person, who I eventually came to call my friend! Lance will be missed by everyone that knew him...I am honored to have gotten to know him!!

Who was to know that one of the best things to come out of answering an ad for an apartment to rent in 1976 would be meeting Lance Elias and his family! I moved into 10 Barclay Street in Newtown with Linda Rudolph and got to meet her younger sister Joyce and brother, Ronnie. One day Ronnie stopped by with his friend, Lance. And when my boyfriend and his brother met Lance, they were destined to be friends. Tragically, Lance had lost his father and John and Andrew had just lost both parents. When Lance's mom found out, well, we were all welcomed with open arms to their home and got to meet Ellie and Laura Sue.
That warmth and welcome were a part of Lance throughout his life. I will miss your hugs, my friend, and, no matter how long since we'd seen each other, that brilliant smile that said he was glad to see you!
Rest in peace... from all of us at 10 Barclay St, "The Barclay Bunch"

My heart goes back to a place where we laughed, played and had each other. Because of distance and life's situations we digressed into our own little worlds. For that I'm sorry. And so Sir Lancelot (your Dad's pet name for you when you were a baby) I pray for you to Rest in Peace and hope that you knew you were never not thought of and always loved. Prayers and love always to Ellie and Laura Sue. Love, Betty Ann

Lance was a stalwart member of our family whom we cherished for his good humor and enthusiastic participation in our Barnegat Light vacations which were much enriched by his skill as a fishing guide and enthusiasm for seafood boils and the other rituals that were such an important part of our good summer's together. He was a reliable friend in both work and play. He will live in our hearts and we will miss him in our summer adventures.
