Joan, I lived next door to the Shaffer funeral and even worked as a teenager at the Funeral home when the undertaker was off and I would answer the phones. I even had a crush at 16 on Dean and he was was 19. He was so handsome. I remember the day he was going to a prom And he came over to the funeral home to see his dad before he went to the prom in his turquoise and white Chevy bellaire car. And in it was the most beautiful blonde girl who I later found it was his girlfriend Joan. What a beautiful couple. Over the years I have often thought about him and how he was and how many children they had. I later learn that Dennis his brother passed away. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I live in Canada married to a Canadian but down in NY this week visiting my son and I thought of Dean and google his name and his obituary came up. So sorry for your lost.

Dean was a good friend to the Kavanagh family and a dedicated public servant. I enjoyed serving as a firefighter with him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Shaffer family.
