Alvin Moore, age 88, of Allen Park, now rests from his work in the arms of his Heavenly Father. On July 1, 2017, he joyfully joined the wife he had missed greatly, Rebecca, and his grandson, Joshua Bonikowski. Also dancing with him now on the streets of Glory are his parents Arthur and Nell Moore; his sisters, Helen, Ruby, Wilda, and Lois; and his brothers, Herman and Xen. Mourning his passing are his children and their spouses Patricia (Donald) Metzler, James Moore, Doris (James) Dodd, Kenneth (Elizabeth) Moore and Gerald Moore. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Byron Bonikowski? Austin, Carly, Andrew, Brett and Katherine Moore? Gayle and Joseph Dodd? Harrison Metzler? Christy (Paul) Dingess. He was blessed by one beautifaul great-granddaughter, Alanis. Alvin was a hard-working man. He thought work was the best way for him to provide for his family and to serve his Savior. He loved his church, which he helped found as the River Rouge Church of God in the early 1950s. He loved the people and the times they spent working and playing together, picnics, chicken dinners, and, most of all, Sunday School. He believed and practiced his faith by sharing the burdens of those around him, feeding and clothing the poor, visiting the sick, and crying with those in grief. More than church, he loved his children and was willing to sacrifice all for them. He loved coming home to them (often with a lunch box surprise), holidays and vacations, fishing (though stories of fishing success were greatly exaggerated), camping, cook-outs. He loved roaming the mountains of Tennessee and Kentucky, or travel anywhere. But once he had been there 5 minutes, he was ready to move on to the next adventure. By his children, he may be most remembered for making them laugh, for teaching them to take care of their homes and their tools, and for the example of doing the right thing even when it wasn't easy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse. Alvin wanted no hoopla here so there will be no services in Michigan. His children will take his earthly remains home to the mountains of Tennessee. This will include family visitation 5:00 - 8:30 p.m., October 6, 2017 and 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., October 7, 2017, as well as a mountaintop Celebration of Homegoing at noon on October 8, 2017. Family members and friends of the deceased are welcome to join Alvin's children at The Lodge on Gists Creek Road, 665 Gists Creek Road, Sevierville, Tennessee.

My Dear Cousins and their families. I am so sorry for your loss. I know Uncle Alvin is in heaven celebrating with God and his big family that he is joining. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Just a coincidence, my daddy Herman, died 10 year ago on July 1st. I miss him so much. I have faith they are all rejoicing together
