RM1 Ronald "Ron" Keith Pool, USN (Ret.), 78, of Goose Creek, South Carolina, born in Lubbock, TX, was a man who believed in doing what's right; always told his Sons "You don't lie, you don't cheat, and you don't steal." A strong willed and dynamic person, he fought a long fight with numerous ailments in later years, bouncing back many times to finally succumb as a result of the failure of his body to respond on July 29th, at 6:15 p.m. Present at his bedside were his wife of 52 years, Faye Pool (nee Phillips); sons, Michael Keith Pool and Kevin Carlisle Pool, and his wife Susan; and their sons Brad-Lee and Keaton; his granddaughters, Katelyn Pool and Carlianne Crooms, with Ron's great-grandson Elton Jackson Jennings also there via phone. Ron was a steadfast husband, a devoted member of the Elk's Lodge 242 in Charleston, SC, a proud member of the United States Navy who served on the USS Gilmore and the Submarine USS Albacore as a Radioman First Class, and Retired Civil Service as Security Director for the Charleston Naval Shipyard. After retirement, Ron worked as a Realtor with his wife at Carolina One and Metro North (formerly Prudential Carolina). The family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Thursday, August 3, 2017 in J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Northwoods Chapel, 2180 Greenridge Road at 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 11:00 until the time of service. Memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 512 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek, SC, 29445.

To the Pool Family,

On behalf of the Charleston Base SUBVETS and Swamp Fox Chapter SUBVETS WWII, I offer you our sincere condolences on Ron's passing. We grieve with you on the loss of your loved one and our shipmate. The SUBVETS will have your family in our thoughts and prayers. There is no expiration date on the back of our dolphins and Ron, who earned his 'fish' when he qualified on USS ALBACORE AGSS-569, will always be remembered as a Brother of the Phin and a great Patriot.
