Robert Geisen Obituary

Published by The Healy Chapel Funeral & Cremation Services - Aurora Facility on Jun. 17, 2011.
Robert N. Geisen, 81, of Aurora, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday, June 17, 2011. He was born December 28, 1929 at the family home in Virgil, Illinois, the son of Nicholas and Hildegard (Welter) Geisen. Bob was a graduate of Marmion Military Academy. He was a devout Catholic whose faith supported him throughout his life and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. He was also a member of the Tiger Club and the Maple Park American Legion Post 312. Bob served with the United States Army during the Korean War. After his retirement from Rittenhouse in 1995 and his Carpet Express routes, he spent his days "shootin-the-breeze" with family and friends and always managed to squeeze in episodes of "Judge Judy" and "Gunsmoke". He enjoyed fishing, especially his many trips to Canada. Bob was a diehard Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears fan. He was a part of a group of longtime friends who bowled together and later enjoyed afternoon poker games. Bob was a very outgoing, happy-go-lucky man who dearly loved his family and treasured the times spent together. He also enjoyed studying maps of the United States, his beloved country. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carol (Kleren) Geisen of Aurora; daughters, Julie (Tim) Spindler of Dundee, Chris (Barry) Bourdage of Geneva and Gretchen (John) Hubbe of St. Charles; grandchildren, Nick Spindler, Sam Hubbe, Zack Hubbe, Will Hubbe, Lauren Spindler and Matt Spindler; a brother, Francis (Barbara) Geisen of Maple Park; a sister, Cathy Saelens of Oswego and a cousin, Jane Welter of Des Plaines. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his godson, Mark Geisen and a brother-in-law, Edward Saelens. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 from 2-8 PM at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Dr., Sugar Grove, IL. A mass to celebrate Bob's life will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at 10 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 801 Oak St., North Aurora, IL. All to meet at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, 1100 W. 31st St., Downers Grove, IL 60515 or for masses.

To Carol and Bob's family: We are so sorry for your loss. Bob was someone my dad, Dudley Smith, truly admired and respected, and I remember him stopping by the house many times. He was always smiling, always optimistic, and so enjoyed life, just a wonderful example and inspiration. You will have many happy memories to sustain you. With love, Nancy

Dear Carol,
We were so sorry to hear about Bob. We will always remember the good times at the Tiger Club. I can still picture him and Joe keeping score for outdoor bowling and the fun times at the ham and turkey raffle. Bob was such an upbeat person and had such a love for life. Our thoughts are with you.
