Chad Joseph Bernard

Chad Joseph Bernard, 32, of Hartford, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 20, 2017, at his home. Born in Hartford on June 28, 1985, son of Teslyn (Thomas) Bernard and the late Joseph Bernard, he was raised in Hartford and was a graduate of Weaver High School. After high school, Chad continued his education at Fox Institute of Business and at Porter & Chester Institute. He worked in the IT Department at the State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection and more recently at Plastic Molding Manufacturing in Berlin. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing video games, basketball, and spending time with his family and friends. Besides his mother, Teslyn Bernard of Hartford, he leaves four sisters, Tiffany N. Bernard of Wethersfield, Alyssa Bernard of Hartford, Evadine Bernard and Nadine Bernard both of Bronx, NY; a brother, Leon Bernard of Trelawney, Jamaica, WI; two nephews, Jova’n M. Hill of Wethersfield and Dayshawn Bell of Bronx, NY; a niece, Kristal Bell of Bronx, NY; his paternal grandmother, Isolyn Bernard of Bronx, NY; four maternal uncles, Leonard Thomas of Stamford, CT, Andrew Thomas of Baltimore, MD, George Thomas of Toronto, Canada, and Astinel Thomas of Jamaica; a paternal uncle, Rupert Bernard and his wife Novlette of Hartford, CT; four maternal aunts, Celine Blake and her husband Silvan of Windsor, CT, Marlene Thomas of Manchester, Marva Taylor and her husband Teron of Lebanon, CT, and Jacqueline Tran and her husband Charles of Washington, D.C.; seven paternal aunts, Evelyn Bernard of Hartford, Hazel Eubanks and her husband Casill of Atlanta, GA, Estella Chin and her husband Owen of Bronx, NY, Venus Francis and her husband Soloman of Brooklyn, NY, Phyllis Lewis of Bronx, NY, Icilda Rose and her husband Nathaniel of Atlanta, GA, and Marion Bernard of Bronx, NY; two maternal great aunts, Eugennie Campbell of Kingston, Jamaica and Olga Barkley and her husband Trevor of Hartford, CT; a paternal great aunt, Avis Lewis of Bronx, NY; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. His family will receive friends on Saturday, September 2, 9-10 a.m., followed by a Homegoing Service at 10 a.m., at the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, 570 Tower Ave., Bloomfield. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family invites everyone to join them following the services for a repast at The Lodge Banquet Facility, 130 Deerfield Rd., Windsor.
