Gary Devone Fulford

Gary Devone Fulford, 64, of Johns Island, South Carolina, husband of Phyllis "Mona" Owens Fulford entered into eternal rest Monday, December 25, 2017. His funeral service will be held Thursday, December 28, 2017 in J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway at 6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until the service. Gary was born February 16, 1953 in Brunswick, County, North Carolina, son of Otis Norvin Fulford and the late Evelyn McCall Fulford. He was a retired Heavy Machinery Operator and Supervisor with the City of Charleston. Gary was an avid hunter, fisherman and race car driver. He started his racing career at Summerville Speedway and raced at Myrtle Beach Speedway. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Phyllis Owens Fulford of Johns Island, SC; daughter, Amy Fulford Sanders (Omar) of Johns Island, SC; father, Otis Norvin Fulford of Johns Island, SC; three sisters, Enola Gay Fulford of Walterboro, SC, Ottis "Skiggy" Davis (Rick) of Manassas, VA, Rosa Fulford Thomas (Kenny) of Summerville, SC; brother, Otis Devone Fulford (Julie) of Johns Island, SC; three grandchildren, Kayla Sharice Sanders, Kyra Marie Sanders, and Omar Sanders, Jr. He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Devone Fulford, Jr. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406 and/or The Ronald McDonald House, 81 Gadsden Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
