Out of sight doesn’t mean out of mind (thought). As a veteran, Bill and I often discussed service things. He was a friend and I still remember him well.

My Dad used to take me to Washington Park to watch Bill play baseball for Christy Plating, it was always exciting cause Bill was gqood. I saw the Sanfords often cause Bill's in-laws were our neighbors, young Billy was one of my childhood friends. Years later I saw Bill at my aunt's memorial service. He looked at me, smiled and told me that I looked just like my Mom. It was the first time I had seen the man since I was 11 years old. He looked wonderful,I could tell that the years had been kind to him.We had the nicest chat, Bill had really made my day. To the Sanford family, my deepest condolences, my memories of all of you are fond ones. Colleen Rzepniewski Pinckney

Mr. Sanford was truly a wonderful person. He was great with the kids of Mather Ave. I will always have fond memories of this kind and friendly man. His body may have left us but his spirit will forever be with us. Rest in peace my friend.
