Hui Chao Obituary

Published by R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc. - Newark on Feb. 14, 2018.
Hui Chao of Newark, DE passed away suddenly at home on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at the age of 49. He was born on August 2, 1968 in Tainan, Taiwan to Jim and Li-Ju (Tseng) Chao. Hui graduated from Newark High School in 1986 and attended the University of Delaware. He worked at the Hockessin Athletic Club as a Chef, shift manager and was a cherished friend to all at the HAC. Prior to joining the HAC, Hui worked for Chrysler/MoPar in Newark where he was highly regarded and was voted union representative for the UAW by his peers. Hui was always full of life with his caring personality. He enjoyed spending time playing golf, shooting pool and rooting for his favorite sports teams, but more than anything, Hui loved his family, friends, and devoted his life to helping everyone he touched. Hui will always be lovingly remembered as a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend. Hui is survived by his parents: Jim and Li-Ju Chao of Newark, DE; sister, Wen Chao and her husband, Keith Watson and their daughter, Alexis Watson of Moorestown, NJ; brother, Min Chao and his wife, Jennifer (Rising) and their son, Zach Chao of Wilmington, DE. A visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday, March 4, 2018 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at R.T. Foard & Jones Funeral Home, 122 W. Main St., Newark, DE 19711. I was shocked to hear of Hui's passing. He was truly a giving person, always very generous. I will always remember his invitation to my kids and I on a 4th of July at his sister,'s house on LBI in New Jersey. He will surely be missed. May you find peace in fond memories of Hui. May God Bless and Keep You Always.

Dear Chao family and friends,
I'm so, so sorry for the too-soon loss of Hui. Though we hadn't been in touch since our childhoods, Hui was one of our group of Windy Hills neighborhood kids and I remember fondly his humor, bravery and fun-loving spirit. I'll light a candle for him and for all who will miss this sweet soul. Sending love.

Dear Chao Family,
I was so very sad to hear about Hui. He was like my "other" little brother, and we considered him part of our family too. I will always remember his wonderful smile, kindness, great sense of humor and laugh, and trying to keep Andrew in line. I will never forget how he asked my Mom to make him warm milk and honey the first time he stayed over at our house when he was still in elementary school. We would always tease him about it, and being Hui, he always laughed along with us. I hope that your memories will bring you some comfort in the days ahead.

Hui was such a nice, generous and fun person. He always had a smile on his face! When I think of him I smile, he was just that kind of person. I worked with him at Mopar and he was very helpful as a union rep.

May God bless his family and friends as they go through the days of loss and sorrow.
