George Kasper Obituary

Published by Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons, Inc. - Shelby Township on Apr. 20, 2018.
George Kasper, a proud Army veteran, died unexpectedly on April 20, 2018 at the age of 85. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Theresa Kasper, his sister Patricia and brother-in-law William Donohue, his sister-in-law Diane and brother-in-law Frank Morello, and brother-in-law Kenneth Wichtman. He was the beloved husband of 63 years to Jacqueline (nee Wichtman). Loving father of George (Laura) Kasper, Brenda Kasper, Paul (Jill) Kasper, David (Dawn) Kasper and the late Phillip Kasper. He was the proud grandfather of Melissa (Chris) Miracle, Neil (Stephanie) Kasper, Andria (Brad) Jones, Rudy Velez, George (Maggie) Kasper, Heather Kasper, Sarah (Kurt) Callewaert, Brad (Jacklin) Kasper, Paul (Kristen) Kasper, Craig (fiancé Loredana) Kasper, and Kevin Kasper. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Julius Ly, Rudi Velez, Sofia Miracle, Vincent Velez, Bradley Jones, Jack Miracle, Gracie Callewaert, Jaclyn Jones, Wyatt Callewaert, Abigail Kasper, Lorelai Kasper, James Kasper, Benjamin Kasper and George Kasper. Dearest brother of Marlene (Ron) Roulo. Dear brother-in-law of Floyd (Linda) Wickman and Denise (Gary) Gordon. George spent a few years on the Grosse Pointe Police force, and 34 years with General Motors as a Tool and Die maker. George spent his days eating healthy, exercising by way of walking, rowing and riding his trike, some days up to 10 miles. Retirement suit him very well. He made sure to live every single day to the fullest. He was a very smart man and could fix anything. He always had the answers and if he didn't, at his tender age of 85, he would "google it or YouTube it" because he knew he could find it on one of those two applications. Mother Nature and Father Time were his two favorite people. He was also known for saying the smartest woman he knew was his "smart phone", followed by "hello google". Visitation Tues. 3-9pm. Funeral Wed. 10:00am at Wujek-Calcaterra & Sons Inc. (Shelby Twp.) 54880 Van Dyke @ 25 mile Rd. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorials to the American Cancer Society in George's memory. Share memories with the family at their "On-Line Guestbook" @ wujekcalcaterra.com

Although I didn't know George, over the years while walking my dogs I often saw him walking and in the last few years riding his bike, flags flying. He always had a smile on his face and a friendly greeting. I am saddened by his loss and will keep him and his family in my prayers. Cindy Kozak, neighbor in Shelby Twp.

George was a wonderful neighbor and an amazing role model. George never let any set backs in his health get in his way. He took great pride in doing his own daily yard work, walking, and riding his trike. There was never a time I seen him without a smile on his face and pep in his step. George is such an inspiration to us all. We will miss seeing him outside working every day.

Grandpa, people who knew you really knew how smart you were. You really did have the answers to everything. You were a real man who provided for his family, made sure your house was a home and made sure any and everyone felt welcomed. We are all so heartbroken. I love you and miss you so much. The pain is so awful.

My condolences to the family of Mr Kasper. I'm sure that words cannot express the overwhelming feeling of disbelief that results from the loss of someone we love. May God comfort and surround you with the much needed love and peace. Continue to cherish all of the wonderful memories that you have all shared together.

To a man who loved life! I will miss deeply. Ever time we said hello there was a smile, a smile was endless. To his family, he was the greatest, if he could help he was there. His family has wonderful memory of him. I pray for all of you at this time.

We are truly saddened by the passing of Uncle George. Conversations with him invariably and immediately revealed his warmth, inquisitiveness and unfailing good humor. His presence will be profoundly missed.
